Don’t leave everyone else in the painful and expensive situation of guessing what you’d have wanted. Don’t make them figure it out after you’re gone.
To help you plan ahead about funerals and burials, we’ve created a free funeral and burial instructions document for you.
Do you want a wake, a church service, cemetery burial? Cremation? Want a party? How about readings, music, singing and flowers? Who do you want to be notified? Anyone you’d rather not participate? Have things you want in an obituary? Want to set a budget?
Print it out, complete the parts that matter to you, put it in a safe place, and tell your family and friends about it.
You wouldn’t plan your daughter’s wedding in three days or without any idea of her wishes. Don’t make your daughter plan your funeral in three days without any idea of your wishes.
Make extra blank copies and give them to your friends and family.
Oh, and by the way, Kiplinger.com reminds us that sorting things out ahead of time is a great way to avoid overpaying for a funeral.
