Josephine “Jo” Grove has come to live with us at Caring House. We’re honored.
Jo was born in Tokyo, Japan, one of four children (although two brothers died very young) of B.E Chamberlin and Ledah Crooks Chamberlin. Her family was in Japan while her father worked there for a steel company. Jo’s has always taken great interest in the Japanese culture and way of life.
When Jo was ten years old, her family moved back to Cortland, Ohio, during the Depression. She attended Cortland High School and then Youngstown Business College.
She met and married Laurice Owen Grove and together they raised two children (Jack and Pam). She now has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
After she retired in 1981 as treasurer for the Lakeview School System, Jo and Laurice moved to Vero Beach, Florida.
Nine years ago she came to Redondo Beach, CA, to live with her daughter, Pam Sullivan.
Jo enjoys playing cards, painting, reading and spending time with her many friends. She takes great pride in the fact her ancestors came to America in 1621, and were some of the early settlers in Bazetta, Ohio.
We’re glad that Jo is with us at Caring House. We look forward to caring for this accomplished mother and friend.
Jo died on March 30, 2018. Honor her. Remember her.
