Irene Jacuinde Hawkins has come to live with us at Caring House. We are honored.
Irene was the first born child of Belen and Victoria Jacuinde. She was raised in Wilmington and Dominguez and attended Banning High School in Wilmington, CA where she enjoyed oil painting and going to school dances.
After completing school Irene worked as a seamstress, a receptionist at Honeywell and served as a Department Manager at Sears.
Irene met her husband Fred while she was participating in a beauty pageant at the beach. A lot of their courtship was spent at The Pike, an amusement park in Long Beach.
Fred and Irene married and moved to Dominguez. They raised four children, Karen, Janice, Julie and Becky. They have six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Irene is fun loving and young at heart. She often took the grandchildren out of school right before the Christmas vacation holiday and they went to Disneyland. There they always rode the Pirates of the Caribbean first, so there wasn’t a long wait for the ride! She also loves California Adventure.
Irene’s interests include dancing to Big Band Music and camping with the family. She also enjoys crocheting and puzzles and action movies.
Irene is known to her family and friends as someone who is always caring and loving others.
We are glad Irene is with us at Caring House. We look forward to caring for this loving and caring woman.
Irene died on July 8, 2019. Honor her. Remember her.
