Meet Carl Henry

Carl Henry has come to live with us at Caring House. We are honored.Carl Henry

Carl (or Carlo and Pop, as he was also known) was born in Jeremie, Haiti, the sixth child of Christian and Laure Henry.

He attended Les Frères du Sacré Coeur High School, and even at that time he was quite an all-rounder, not only playing soccer and the guitar, but he was also a math whiz. After earning his Bachelor of Science at the Centre d’Ētudes Secondaires in Port au Prince, Haiti, he studied television repair at the DeVry Institute of Technology in New York, got his IT certification at Bell and Howell, and earned a degree in computer technology from Control Data Institute in New York.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974 (Vietnam & Korea). He enlisted as a Radio Relay Technician and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant Class E-5. Subsequently, he began his professional career as an electronics engineer for various companies in increasingly responsible and leading positions. After 20+ years, he retired from Pitney Bowes.

Carl and his wife, Raymonde, were childhood friends! After being roommates in Brooklyn, New York, they married and began their life together in Connecticut in 1973. During Carl’s working life, they also spent time in Puerto Rico and France, where Carl worked as a field service engineer. Together they raised three children, Vladjimir, Carlyn and Carl, Jr. They also have two grandchildren. In 2003, Carl moved to California to live with his daughter and her family.

Throughout his life, Carl has continued to enjoy the same activities and interests at which he excelled in his youth, including sports (golf, soccer and tennis). He loves classical music (Mendelssohn’s Opus 64 & Charles Aznavour’s La Bohème being his favorites), and teaching and tutoring math, calculus being his special interest. He also has a delight for photography and writing poetry.

On the lighter side he enjoys visiting the casino and watching game and judge shows. While making a lasting impression on those around him through his compassion and humility, he is also known for his sense of humor and corny jokes. Always thinking about others, he collects recipes from magazines and cooking shows he thinks his family will like and spoils them with thoughtful and individual gifts.

Carl is a devout member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research and enjoys the simplicity of life and looks forward to a life eternal with the heavenly father.

We are glad that Carl is with us at Caring House. We look forward to caring for this kind and compassionate man.
