Harue Anne Sugiyama has come to live with us at Caring House. We are honored.
Anne was the born in Stockton, CA. In the early 1940s she was in her twenties when she and her family were sent to the Gila River Concentration Camp. It was there that she met Tad Sugiyama.
During WWII, both attended Hamline University, MN. Anne graduated with her nursing degree while Tad enlisted in the Army serving in the Military Intelligence Service. They were married on July 25,1945 in Minneapolis.
After the war they moved to Berkeley, California where Tad finished his degree at U.C. Berkeley while Anne worked as an RN. Once Tad graduated, they moved to the South Bay where he attended Dental Tech School and she worked at Harbor General Hospital as head nurse of Pediatrics.
Tad successfully opened and operated the Sugiyama Dental Lab, in Gardena, for 30 years, during which Anne was the administrative backbone.
Anne and Tad have two daughters (Judy and Karen), two grandchildren (Kyle and Scott) and several great-grandchildren.
Together Anne and Tad helped build both Christ Lutheran and St. Thomas Churches. They are devout Lutherans.
They love to travel, especially with family.
We are glad Anne is with us at Caring House. We look forward to caring for this accomplished, loving woman of faith.
Anne died on August 21, 2019. Tad died ten hours later. Honor them. Remember them.
