Janette Dawson joins the Caring House board

Janette DawsonJanette Dawson, RN-Case Manager, MHA, ACM has been elected to the Caring House board of directors.

Janette grew up in Palos Verdes and moved all the way to Redondo Beach 1988. Growing up in the South Bay fostered her love of sports to include surfing, horseback riding and triathlons. She graduated nursing school in 1985 and has worked at South Bay Hospital, Little Company of Mary Hospital and Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

In 2009, Janette was hired as the Director of Care Management at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. As the Director, she worked with social services, case management, utilization review and spiritual care. In the community she supported and worked with The South Bay Coalition to End Homelessness. She also worked with social services and the emergency department developing plans to care for and manage our psychiatric population. Janette serves on the Board of Directors of the Case Management Society of America.

On a personal note, Janette is married with two children. Her daughter followed in her footsteps and is an RN at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Her son is an executive chef in Colorado.

In addition to Caring House, Janette and her husband also support the Westside German Shepherd rescue, Parkinson’s Disease UK, and The Christie cancer research hospital.

After her first board meeting Janette noted “I am honored to be a part of Caring House and be able to support such a unique and much needed resource in our community.”

Having a strong, experienced, capable and involved board of directors is key to the success of a nonprofit like Caring House. We’re thrilled that Janette is now a part of our board and leadership. Janette is also a proud member of Nurses for Caring House.
