Ellen Gorbunoff was just elected to the Caring House board of directors.
Ellen and her family have lived on the Palos Verdes Peninsula for 40 years. A registered nurse for 45 years, Ellen has worked locally at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and for the last 20 years at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center.
Ellen’s role at PLCMMC is the Community Director of Education and Professional Development for both LCM Torrance and San Pedro. In that role, she’s facilitated the education of clinical staff on pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, other clinical topics, as well as nursing leadership development. Her education team has been involved in training programs in the simulation centers at PLCM to include critical changes in patient conditions, No One Dies Alone and Advanced Communication.
Ellen’s passion to support the experience of a “good death” (peaceful, surrounded by love, respect and caring) connects her strongly with the mission of Caring House.
Ellen will be retiring from Providence Little Company of Mary soon. She is looking forward to the third stage of her life and what that will bring. She plans to spend more time with her three daughters and five grandchildren.
We’re thrilled that Ellen is now a part of the Caring House board and leadership.
