A Visit with Social Work Interns from Providence Hospice

Social Work Interns from our partners at Providence HospiceOur friends at Providence Little Company of Mary partner with and support us in a variety of ways, so it’s always nice to return the favor. That’s why when Natalie Thome – a Bereavement Coordinator at Providence Hospice, who also manages their internship program – asks us if she can bring the current social work interns to Caring House for a tour, we always say yes!

This year, Natalie was unable to join us for the tour, so Karyn Trowbridge from Providence’s Community-based Palliative Care Program took her place and happily so. She told us she had heard wonderful things about Caring House, but had never been, so she jumped at the chance to finally visit.

Social Work Interns from our partners at Providence Hospice tour Caring HouseKaryn was joined by five interns who are working with Bereavement Services, Community-based Palliative Care, and In-Patient Palliative Care. One of the interns even recognized our volunteer dog, Gigi, because she works with Caring House Board Member Beka Malloy (aka Gigi’s mom) in the In-Patient Palliative Care Program. They each asked insightful and empathetic questions about how we help our residents and families as they toured the house with Joanna Franco, our Resident Care Manager and Director of Program Services, and in turn, we thanked them for their dedication to this important field.
